Harvest in Progress

In Wazuka town the farmers are busy harvesting the tea. I've been to Wazuka many times but had been unable to find this specific field, which is called Harayama tea field (原山の茶畑).

It's not easy to get to, to say the least. I was surprised how aggressively the farmers had stripped the plants, leaving only twigs. There are other extremely picturesque tea fields around Wazuka that are easier to access but this one is quite special, and I spent a good 20 minutes here.

Wazuka town is well worth a visit if you have the chance. You can now rent battery assisted bicycles from a macha cafe there for 1000 yen a day.
